|Sarah Miller, a student at The Art Institute of Houston, received a 2009 PSA Scholarship. The scholarship and check was presented to Sarah in November, 2009 by Don Pederson, APSA, Region Director for PSA Region 9. Larry Horne, President of the Art Institute of Houston and her instructor were present.|
|The Houston Chinese Photographic Society Annual Print Exhibition was held in August 2009.|
|Fifteen Victoria Photography Club members served as event photographers for the Warrior's Weekend May 15-17, 2009 at Port O’Connor, Texas.|
|The Warrior’s Weekend event brought in approximately 200 soldiers who were wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan for a day of fishing and celebration in honor of their service and sacrifice. The wounded along with some family members came from Fort Bragg, NC, Fort Campbell, KY, Ft. Riley, KA., Fort Hood, Walter Reed Hospital in Washington as well as Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio.
|The soldiers returned to their rehabilitation hospitals Sunday morning after breakfast.
Prior to the Port O’Connor event, a Club photographer went to Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas to photograph the Warrior’s Weekend leaders fry fish and grill stuffed jalapenos for some wounded soldiers and their families who would not be able to attend the activities and celebration at Port O’Connor.
|There were over 8000 pictures taken during the entire event. The pictures were then given to the Warrior’s Weekend event leaders.|
|PSA Region Director, Eleanore Avery, APSA, became President of the Gulf States Camera Club Council (GSCCC) in April 2009. Outgoing GSCCC President, John Hill, congratulated Eleanore who had just received the GSCCC First Place Award in the Nature Year End Competition.|
|Matt Daura, APSA, is presenting a first PSA Membership Star to Don Pederson, APSA, Region 9 Director.|
|Houston Chinese Photographic Society held their "Top Ten" competition for 2007. The judges were: Tin Ly, Professional Photographer from San Francisco; Madeline Yale, Director of the Houston Center for Photography; and Don Pederson, APSA, Director PSA Region 9.|
